Guide to standards and procedures for Resource Teachers: Learning and Behaviour - Ministry of Education

Requests for Support (RFS)
SENCO/LSC will notify the Liaison RTLB fortnightly on Mondays during weeks 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 (odd weeks) of the term.
Last Dates for RFS submissions for term 1, 2026.
Week 3: 9th February
Week 5: 23rd February
Week 7: 9th March
Week 9: 23rd March

RFS Allocation Meetings
Week 4: 19th February (Thursday)
Week 6:  5th March (Thursday)
Week 8: 19th  (Thursday )
Week 10:  2nd April (Thursday)


Learning Support Fund (LSF) submissions will be made fortnightly on Mondays in weeks 2, 4, 6, and 8 (even weeks) of the term.

Current Vacancies:

We invite passionate, trained RTLB or experienced NZ fully registered teachers who aspire to be an RTLB as a future career, to join this large dynamic cluster.  Starting 20 July 2026.  Full-time permanent 1 MU + SDA.  Position 1:  Palmerston North. Position 2: Levin or Ōtaki.    

The successful applicant will have:

 

  • A current NZ practicing certificate.

  • Extensive experience in New Zealand education.

  • Proven skills in supporting students with diverse needs in inclusive settings.

  • Experience and/or ability to work across Years 2-10.

  • A Degree qualification or higher.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth, including successfully completing the mandatory Post Graduate training in Specialist Teaching.

  • Commitment to engaging with whānau/families.

  • Sound ICT skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to tangata whenua and Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership in Aotearoa.

  • Commitment to becoming culturally competent with diverse Pacific learners.

  • Experience working collaboratively with others from a strength-based perspective.

  • A full driver’s license and be willing to use their own vehicle for work purposes (reimbursed).

 

Other strengths:

  • Experience teaching in immersion or bi-lingual Māori settings.

  • RTLB qualification and experience.

  • Structured Literacy and Numeracy.

  • Leadership experience.
