About the RTLB Service

What the RTLB service is:

RTLB are trained specialist teachers who work with schools and kura so they are able to meet a broad range of learning, wellbeing and behaviour related needs. The RTLB service is designed to be well connected to schools to make it easier to respond to local needs.

RTLB work with schools and students in a variety of ways. They may work with:

individual students and their whānau | families
groups of students
individual teachers, early intervention specialists, learning support coordinators (LSCs) or special education needs coordinators (SENCOs)
a whole school or groups of schools.

How the RTLB service is run

In each cluster, one school is chosen as the lead school. This school runs the service for all schools in the cluster. Its board is responsible for leading and overseeing the cluster, hiring the RTLB and cluster manager and managing the funding.

RTLB are itinerant (that is, travel within their cluster of schools) but they may be physically located in a lead school or a host school within the cluster.
